Future Skills Academy were thrilled to be involved in the launch of the three day careers event for new year 11 at Tong High School in collaboration with Bradford Pathways. Our challenge to engage and inspire students was just that – a challenge based on a variety of skills employers are looking for. We encouraged visitors to our stand with a series of puzzles linked to resilience, creativity and a hands-on approach.
Students were also questioned about their knowledge of the apprenticeship route and many were well informed. We were then able to capture some details of potential apprenticeships so that we can support them through the recruitment and selection process.
Future Skills Academy is working with large, medium and small employers to develop their offer to schools, colleges universities and the labour market, promoting the careers options available locally and nationally.
We are particularly interested in engaging with schools who would like to be part of a year-long programme to promote STEM careers. Working in conjunction with WISE and industry, Future Skills Academy are passionate about making an impact with an on-going cycle of events and interactions to successfully influence young people and their families, especially girls into STEM careers leading to an apprenticeship offer up to degree level.
